  WELCOME TO Kiddie Yoga

Hi, I'm Carine Robin. I obtained a Master's degree in Psychology in Belgium in 2002, specialising amongst other things in child psychology. I started my career in Belgium working for various social services including a foster care agency, a contact centre and a day centre for adults with mental deficiency. In parallelI, I also worked as a private counsellor for children and their family.

I was a member of a Drama club for 12 years while living in Belgium which gave me a taste for teaching group activities.  I undertook various drama and art-therapy short courses that gave me tools to use in my role as a psychologist in Belgium. I especially liked running a drama club for adult with mental disabilities. More than just play, the club helped the members to express themselves in a safe and welcoming environment.

Without knowing it, through my different trainings, I was already incorporating minfulness and yoga techniques in my professional practice (I remembered learning and teaching the Tree pose as a concentration technique in Drama).

In 2006, I moved to Ireland and started to work in a daycare nursery with children from birth to 5 years. This is where I discovered the Montessori education.

When I was pregnant with my first child, I attended some pregnancy yoga classes and I remember that it was the only time during the week when I was able to focus solely on myself and on my body. Those classes were my first encouter with yoga and I felt straigh away that it was good for me.

In December 2007 after having my first child, I started to read more about the Montessori education from birth.

I gained a Montessori diploma in 2009 and went back to work in a Montessori classroom until I moved to the UK in May 2011. On the side, I was practising yoga on and off.

In London, I ran successfully for 3 years a Montessori based parents and toddler group then after relocation to the Bedfordshire, I opened another parents and toddlers group in Bedford that I ran for around 6 months.

Then I became the manager and Montessori lead teacher of a Montessori preschool near Huntingdon for nearly 2 years. It's there that I started to incorporate yoga and mindfulness activities with the children.

At the same time, as a parent, I was looking for a yoga class in Sandy or in Biggleswade for my own child, who was an anxious 8 years old. Frustrated that I couldn't find anything nearby enough, I started to practice yoga with my own children. Observing the benefits on my own children and on the children at school, I decided to train myself in order to provide classes to the local families and children around Sandy, Biggleswade, Letchworth and Hitchin.

I'm regular in my own yoga practice, attending at least two yoga classes each week, at the Courtyard Centre in Biggleswade. I'm currently attending a Foundation of Yoga, level 4 at CamYoga and I will start the 200H yoga teacher training in September 2017.

I have trained with Yogabeez. It's a course that blends Yoga, Mindfulness and Montessori principles to educate the Whole Child from 2 to 15 years old.

It's fully recognized by the Yoga Alliance.

I also trained with Enchanted Wonders, a creative way to sparkle imagination through yoga and mindfulness.

I'm committed to further education and I fully intend to attend other yoga trainings in the near future.

I also hold a paediatric first aid qualification, I'm DBS checked (CRB) and fully insured.
